Fun facts about Assamese

Assamese is unique among Indian languages because it lacks the stereotypical Indian T and D sounds in which the tongue curls to the top of the mouth.

The Assamese script is almost identical to Bengali, with the exception of two letters. But the pronunciation of many letters is very different.

There is no word for 'hug' in Assamese. The closest would be 'to hold tightly'.
