There are many borrowings from French, including 'Merci' for 'thank you'.

One of the most notoriously difficult words for foreigners is Chuchichäschtli (kitchen cupboard), which has three of the hard 'ch' sounds.

If you hear Swiss Germans refering to a place called 'Ausland', it means anywhere that isn't Switzerland.
